With Stickler Syndrome often going undiagnosed due to its complex, multi-system symptoms, many individuals are treated for isolated issues without recognising the underlying condition - putting some, particularly children, at risk of preventable sight loss. To address this, the Relations Group partnered with Stickler Syndrome UK to deliver a targeted broadcast campaign across radio, TV and podcasts, raising awareness of the condition and the importance of early diagnosis. By leveraging regionally relevant spokespeople to increase media appeal, we secured interviews that highlighted the often-overlooked signs of the condition, the risk of retinal detachment, and the life-changing impact of missed diagnoses. The campaign also promoted a newly refined clinical checklist designed to help GPs and healthcare professionals “join the dots” across symptoms, while raising awareness of the NHS England-funded Highly Specialised Service and referral pathways - ultimately encouraging earlier intervention and helping to prevent avoidable blindness.
