In response to the ongoing pressures facing the UK pub and hospitality sector, the Relations Group supported City Pub Company in delivering a broadcast-led awareness campaign to highlight the wider value of pubs within local communities and the economy. The campaign set out to educate audiences on how legislation and government support can play a crucial role in sustaining the industry, particularly in the face of rising costs, staffing shortages and increased taxation pressures post-pandemic and post-Brexit. Through media engagement, we emphasised the risk of continued closures of independent and chain pubs without intervention, while reinforcing the importance of fairer business rates and tax parity with other sectors. The campaign also spotlighted the social role pubs play in fostering community connection and wellbeing, positioning them not just as businesses, but as vital local hubs that support both social cohesion and wider economic activity.
